Map of Colonial Maryland
Waters of the Chesapeake Bay
Maryland lies on the Chesapeake Bay (for those who didn't notice the heading) and is heavily influenced by the pride of the planet, water. Maryland has plentiful natural resources, from fish, to timber, to even famous crops like rice and corn, all thanks to water's influence. The weather is also made unique by the Bay. Maryland is shaped with coves, creeks, salt marshes, and various islets (small islands), making the colony very distinct in geography. If you really like to swim in water, fish in water, sail in water, or even drink water, then you'll like Maryland, rest assured.
Beauty and the Bay
The Chesapeake Bay is a sight to behold, and Maryland is the perfect place to take in all the beauty. Along with the lush forests, scattered islets, and beautiful port-town architecture, Maryland combines many aspects, along with the glorious rushing waters, to paint a priceless picture. Waking up to a gorgeous orange, and comfortably warm, sunrise in the Chesapeake Bay will make your eyes widen more than Christopher Columbus when he landed in the Indies!

Hook, Line, and Sinker
Did you say you like to fish? No? Well, get a rod and start reeling them in! Fish are a mainstream food source in Maryland, a beneficial part of living next to a water-body. Fishing is often enjoyed by many as a nice hobby on the side.
Maryland's Many Materials
|
Maryland's main products are fish (if that hasn't been clear enough), timber, iron, and Western cash crops, like corn and rice. Maryland is filled with dense forests that have tall, strong trees. These trees can be cut for very high-quality wood, or timber, and is used to build ships and caravels, which are, without a doubt, important tools. The immense amount of water in the region and the (extremely) generous amount of sunlight also makes growing crops and irrigation easier and more efficient. Corn and rice are an easy source of income, which this colony has in spades. While Maryland may not have as much rice production as South Carolina, it is still a big industry, nonetheless. Finally, iron, a powerful material, is used in manufacturing for various things. There is even an act called the "Act of Encouragement of an Iron Manufacture within this Province", which further well... "encouraged" the use and need for iron, which Maryland has plenty of. These varied resources make Maryland a very valuable asset to the colonies as a whole.

Sunny Skies, Stormy Seas
Get ready for the colonial tan of a lifetime! Maryland's weather is warm and hot, with plenty of sunlight. With so much sunlight to go around, crops grow at an astonishing rate. Not only that, but the pretty consistent warmth lets crops grow year-round. These factors make Maryland a great colony for agriculture. Winters are not as cold or punishing as the other colonies, which is a nice bonus. However, when summer is just around the corner, you better have a way to cool yourself off or you'll be toast. Summers in Maryland are HOT! When spring swings by, so do the storms. Don't worry, your house won't be blown to the sky, but just remember not to go sailing, as the winds, rain, and thunder get pretty furious during Maryland storms. However, the downpour only helps crops grow even more, resulting in greater profit! The sunshine in Maryland is a beauty to behold, especially at sunrise or sunset; just be mindful not to deep-fry yourself.
